Florida Statute 493 All private investigators and private investigative
agencies must be fully licensed by the state of Florida.
Only licensed agencies are authorized to perform private investigative
services. A private investigator must either own or be employed
by an agency in order to perform his/her duties.
The statute further states: "no licensee or any employee of a licensee or
licensed agency shall divulge or release to anyone other than his
client or employer the contents of an investigative file acquired
in the course of licensed investigative activity."
